What Izwi does.

A different South African word or phrase lands on your home screen every morning, across isiZulu, isiXhosa, Afrikaans, Sesotho, Tsotsitaal and Kaaps. Widget first, so it arrives without you having to remember to open anything.

Most language apps are a dictionary you have to remember to open, which means you do not open them. Izwi is built the other way round: the word finds you.

Every morning a different South African word or phrase appears on the home screen, with what it means and how it is actually used. Stoepkakker, a yappy porch dog. Sgubhu, a groove. Sidl’ukotini, dressed to impress. The vocabulary that everyone around you already knows and nobody ever formally taught you.

It spans isiZulu, isiXhosa, Afrikaans, Sesotho, Tsotsitaal and Kaaps, and it works as a native widget on both iOS and Android rather than as a notification you swipe away.
